USD Four Million For Rehabilitation Of Natural Reserves  

At least USD 4 million will be made available to Angola, during 2009/2010 period by the World Environment Fund to finance projects related to the rehabilitation of national parks and natural reserves.
This was announced at Luanda`s "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, by Urbanisation and Environment

minister, Diekumpuna Sita José, upon his return from Johannesburg, South Africa, where he attended, on 07-12 June, the African ministers Conference, under the topic “Implementation of environmental initiative in the light of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD)".
The minister also referred about the coming in the country of a delegation of the World Fund and World Bank to, along with the Angolan officials, outline the first projects to be implemented.
Rehabilitation of National Park of Iona, in southern Cunene province, of Cameia, eastern Moxico, as well as the preservation of endangered species like gorilla and chimpanzee mostly based in Maiombe forest, northern Cabinda province, will be the top priority for the first phase, explained Diekumpuna Sita José.
Also in progress is the studies to restore the National Park of Quissama, northern Bengo province, of Bicuar (Huíla), as well as the preservation of Black Antelope in Malanje province, and the funding also counted on collaboration of Spain.

The event takes place every two years and this year it has presented the balance of the activities of the African countries in the implementation of different agreements existing in the environment domain.
