Portugal: Angolan President considers visit’s results “spectacular”  

Lisbon – The Head of State of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, considered the results of his two-day visit to Portugal as spectacular, which counted on the signing of memorandums of understandings for the strengthening of cooperation between the two governments.

three memoranda of understanding, one agreement and an addendum, with highlight to that establishing the Portuguese-Angolan Bank, with Sonangol and the Deposit Fund of Portugal.

”It is with great satisfaction that we leave this place with spectacular results of the visit”, said the President, who promised to continue working with the Portuguese government so as to boost the economic relations between the two countries, for the interest of the respective economies and people.

He shared the idea of the Portuguese prime minister on the importance of the partnership between Angolan and Portuguese Companies, by stating that the just established bank shall be an important tool in this process.

”I think that we are building with firmness and sense of great responsibility a strategic partnership based on equality, mutual respect and cooperation with reciprocal advantages”, stressed the statesman who ended his visit to Portugal this Wednesday.

President Dos Santos also declared that he is “very satisfied” with the great spirit of understanding that enlivens the relations between both governments, based on friendship and, above all, on mutual solidarity.

The Angolan Head of State urged members of the civil society, of culture and of sports to establish relations that further unite their institutions and promote this climate of fraternity, deep friendship and great solidarity.

”There is a long walk and we want to build these new routes of hope together, and we are convinced that we will use both governments to build this friendship that we desire, and hope that they become stronger”, the President of Angola concluded. Source: ANGOP 03/11/09
