Portuguese business people invited to invest in Angola  

Luanda – Portuguese business people were invited on Wednesday, in Lisbon by the Angolan minister of Economy, Manuel Nunes (Photo), to invest in Angola, because in this country “there is a lot to explore”.

With the objective of strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, the Cabinet official called on Portuguese businessmen to invest in areas such as urban rehabilitation, construction, iron-foundry, energy, ports and airports.

debated the economic relations between Angola and its former colonial power, under the motto Opportunities of Business Cooperation, that brought together about 500 business people, of both countries.

The field of tourism and hotel services was stressed by the Southern African nation’s official when he reminded that Angola will hold next January, the African Cup of Nations (CAN).

Supporting the statements by Manuel Nunes, the chairperson of the National Agency for Private Investment (ANIP), Aguinaldo Jaime, asseverated that measures have been taken in order to speed up, in future, the approval of more investments.

He added that Angola may create an incentive system that will encourage the investors to bet on projects in inland of the country, to avoid the concentration in Luanda and promote geographic dispersion.

However, he said, it is planning the creation in Angola of the so called one stop shop, to support foreign investment. Portuguese Economy minister, Manuel Pinho, said that the strongest and richest chapter of economic diplomacy consists the strengthening of relations with Angola. Source: ANGOP 03/12/09
