 Angola: Portuguese president considers relations with Angola very intense

Lisbon – The Portuguese head of State, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, considered Tuesday, in Lisbon, considered cooperation with Angola as very intense, having recognising that the Angolan people is faced with a big challenge of economic and social development.

The Portuguese president said so during a joint press conference with his Angolan counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santos, who is since Tuesday paying a two-day official visit to Portugal.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva spoke of the importance to bilateral cooperation of the Angolan president’s visit.

between the two peoples, in mutual respect for a common history for enturies, with a shared language, the Portuguese president also said.

The Portuguese president stressed that “Portugal has always been close to the Angolan people in the national reconciliation”, a process in which, he added, the Angolan head of State has been playing a very important role.

This cooperation is completed in various fields, particularly in the economic sector; Portugal has through its entrepreneurs been investing strongly in Angola, by contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of the Angolan population.

But Angola, through its strong economic development, has been investing strongly in Portugal, through partnerships that are established by  entrepreneurs from both countries, with benefits for all, Aníbal Cavaco Silva underlined.
