Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos,
in Luanda discussed with the chairman of the African Union
(AU) Commission, Alpha Omar Konare, matters relating to
the situation prevailing in the continent.
At the end of an audience granted by the head of State,
Alpha Konare, who is on a 48-hour visit to Angola, said
that he and president Dos Santos analysed the Darfur conflict,

| Sudan, and the situation in Somalia,
having studied how Africa should contribute for peace in those regions.
He added that during the meeting, the discussion also focused on
the AU position on various world issues, as well as on the need
for Africans to be more united, in the framework of an integration
policy.
Concerning all these issues, Alpha Konare stated that he received
a valuable attention and contribution from the Angolan head of State.
"The role of Angola, in its capacity as member of AU Defence
and Security Commission, is fundamental, considering its experience
in creating peace", stressed the AU official.
Alpha Konare assured that this is a very important aspect, since
essential matters relating to stability and security should be outlined
by this committee.
